Day 1 ARUSHA – MAASAI LAND – Departure from Arusha to the Maasai land on the Western slopes of Kilimanjaro, beyond the farms so well described by William Boyd in his book “An ice-cream war“. Our hillside tented camp, near Maasai villages, will allow you to both come into contact in a unique way with the Maasai population outside of the normal tourist routes and experience the beautiful scenery and rich wildlife of the area. Overnight at Private Comfort Camp.
Day 2 MAASAI LAND – The full day is dedicated to discovering the Maasai lands, perfect for walking safari. Accompanied by your own ranger, you can get close on foot to wildlife, unlike in the park area where walking safari is not permitted. You move at your own speed and children find this experience very rewarding. The ranger is in permanent contact with your vehicle which can come to pick you up any time. Day 3 MAASAI LAND – TARANGIRE – Departure in the morning for Tarangire National Park. Tarangire extends over 2600 km2 of wilderness in the Rift Valley. It is part of the broader migratory system and is one of the best places in Africa to see elephants with herds reaching to as many as 500 animals. Tarangire also has a unique vegetation with panoramas of open savannah grasslands dotted with acacia woodland and large Baobab trees and termite hills and is crossed by the beautiful Tarangire River. Day 4 TARANGIRE – KARATU – After breakfast, game drive in the park, using the best daylight to view and observe the African scenery of this magnificent park. Departure after lunch for Karatu. The busy village of Karatu is situated at the foot of Ngorongoro on its fertile highlands. Spread over this rich farmland are plantations of wheat, sweet potatoes and coffee, all neatly delimitated through hedges of Manyara plants. Overnight at Plantation Lodge.
Day 5 KARATU – NGORONGORO – SERENGETI – After breakfast, departure for the Ngorongoro Crater. This is one of the culminating moments of your safari. The sight of the Ngorongoro Crater is simply stunning. The caldera with a diameter of 20 km, covering a mere 260 km2 surface in a 600 m deep crater is home to a permanent population of more than 30,000 animals, a natural paradise. The few rough roads allow viewing and observing almost all the wildlife in the crater. You will spend the day game drive in the crater (limited to 6 hours) and go (aroud 3pm) in the Serengeti for the night. Overnight at Private Comfort Camp.
Days 6 and 7 SERENGETI – The park entrance is located on top of the unique hill around this giant plain. Covering an area of 14.763 km2, Serengeti is the largest and also the oldest National Park in Tanzania. It is undoubtedly one of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries in the world. His plains are renowned for their variety of vegetation including plains, lakes, hills and rock outcrops (kopjes) and the extraordinary concentration of animals. The view of the migration of thousands of wildebeest followed by zebras and buffaloes including their predators in search for water and greener pastures is a breathtaking experience. Full day game drive in the park. The numerous rough roads of the park give the opportunity to visit and observe the wildlife in the different areas and landscapes of the park. Picnic lunch is organized in the park to maximise game viewing time. Overnight at Comfort Camp.
Day 8 SERENGETI – ZANZIBAR – Early morning game drive in the park looking out for the tree-climbing lions before your flight from Seronera airstrip in the center of Serengeti to Zanzibar, Stone Town. Arriving in the afternoon, transfer to Tembo Hotel (B&B) Overnight in HB module at Tembo House.
Day 9 – Free visit of the historical and most particular Stone Town. For a small supplement, many guides will offer you their services. Overnight in HB module at Tembo House.
Day 10, 11, 12 MATEMWE – Transfer from Stone Town to the East Coast, Matemwe. Free stay at Matemwe Beach Village Overnight in HB module at Matemwe Beach Village.
Day 13 MATEMWE – STONE TOWN – Transfer from Matemwe to the airport of Stone Town for your flight (booked by yourself)
